Vertical Studs

A vertical stud wall can be used in conjunction with or in lieu of standard wall girts to support other horizontal siding options.  The vertical stud wall is similar to stick frame construction.  2x6 or 2x4 studs are placed vertical 24” or 16”on center between the posts. This creates a cavity for R-19 insulation and provides the necessary area on the stud to fasten drywall.  The vertical stud wall has its advantages when mounting objects such as shelving or cabinets to a wall where maximum strength is desired.  This framing option is used when a fully finished room or building is desired.
