Steel Structures America built this post-frame shop in Kennewick, WA, for a customer who wanted room to grow. Since the property called for both covered storage and open equipment access, the design includes two lean-tos. The main bay measures 24 feet by 36 feet with a 16-foot eave and an 8:12 roof pitch. Both lean-tos flank the main bay, adding 12 feet of depth along the building’s length. Their lower 4:12 pitch steps the roofline down on both sides of the main gable.
As a result, the shop reads lower and wider than its footprint suggests. Steel Structures America finished the exterior in Rural Red panels with Arctic White trim for contrast. The crew topped the ridge with a 36-inch cupola. Plus, an 8-foot bird’s beak and a 36-linear-foot glulam beam add character to the roofline. Overall, the layout balances a fully enclosed workspace with open bays for equipment that needs quick access.
