Design & Purpose

This custom post-frame shop and storage building in Parker, Colorado is designed for functionality and lasting performance. Built outside city limits in Douglas County, the structure combines open storage, a lofted workspace, and durable exterior finishes to handle year-round use in Colorado’s changing climate.

Layout & Structure

The main gable building measures 40 feet wide by 60 feet long with an 18-foot eave height and a 4/12 roof pitch. A 6 × 34 open lean-to provides covered exterior space, ideal for equipment or vehicle parking. Inside, the design includes a 15 × 40 residential loft with a 40-foot P.S.E. floor system, wide stairs, and a guard rail. The loft is perfect for additional storage or a flexible upper workspace.

Foundation & Durability

Steel Structures America set the posts on Perma-Columns®, keeping all wood above grade to extend the life of the building. The crew prepared the gravel base, and the owner will pour a 5-inch concrete slab later to complete the foundation.
