Steel Structures family brands main facility

Everything You Need to Build Is Already Under One Roof

Building something new on your property is a big deal. Whether it’s a custom shop, a barndominium, a commercial facility, or a kit home, the last thing you want is to juggle five different vendors trying to make it all work.

That’s why we built Steel Structures America the way we did. Over the years, we’ve put together a family of brands that covers every part of the process, so our customers don’t have to go anywhere else.

Here’s a look at each brand, what it does, and why having them all together is a genuine advantage for anyone building something new.

Why We Built a Family of Brands

Most building companies do one thing. They’re either a contractor, a materials supplier, or a kit provider.

We thought we could do better than that.

The idea behind the SSA family of brands is simple: you should be in control of how you build. You might want us to handle everything. You might want to supply your own contractor. You might want to build it yourself. Whatever works for you, we’ve got a brand that fits.

Here’s the lineup.

Steel Structures America: Custom Post-Frame Buildings, Built for You

At the core of everything is Steel Structures America, the largest and most experienced post-frame steel building company in the Pacific Northwest. We have locations across Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and Colorado, and we handle the whole process: design, engineering, permitting, and construction.

What We Build

We specialize in post-frame buildings of just about every type:

  • Custom garages, hobby shops, and toy hauler buildings
  • Barndominiums and post-frame living spaces
  • Agricultural and farm buildings
  • Commercial buildings and mini storage facilities
  • Contractor shops and industrial structures
  • All-steel building configurations

One Point of Contact from Start to Finish

When you build with SSA, you’ve got one team handling everything from your first design conversation to the final walkthrough.

Because we manufacture many of our own materials through Metal America (more on that in a moment), we control quality and lead times in ways a traditional building contractor can’t. Our in-house engineering and permitting team takes care of the complicated stuff, and our warranty backs every structure we build.

If you want a complete, done-for-you building with no runaround, SSA is where to start.

Metal America: We Manufacture Our Own Materials

Here’s something that most people don’t know about SSA: we make our own metal panels, roofing, and siding through Metal America. Based in Post Falls, Idaho and Spokane Valley, Washington, Metal America is a full-scale manufacturer serving both SSA’s builds and contractors across the region.

What Metal America Makes

  • Standing Seam panels (QuickLoc, Snap Lock, and Mechanically Seamed) for a clean, modern look
  • Exposed Fastener panels including Tuff Rib, PBR Panel, Corrugated, and 7.2 Panel
  • Architectural wall panels: Board and Batten, Flush Wall/Soffit, Shiplap, and Double Lap Siding
  • A wide color palette with specialty finishes including wood-look and Cor-Ten options

Why In-House Manufacturing Matters

When a builder relies on outside suppliers, they’re at the mercy of someone else’s schedule and quality standards. When SSA builds your structure, we’re using panels from our own facility, which means faster turnaround, tighter quality control, and more flexibility to customize.

Metal America is also open to outside contractors and builders. If you’re a roofing contractor, siding installer, or general contractor looking for a reliable local supplier, you can order directly and get the same quality that goes into every SSA project.

Kit Culture: Build It Yourself with Premium Kit Homes

A fully built home from Kit Culture

Not everyone wants a full-service builder. Some people want to save money by doing it themselves. Others have a contractor they already trust and just need a quality product to work with. Kit Culture was created for exactly those situations.

Kit Culture offers premium kit homes that ship on a single truck, ready to assemble. Everything you need is in the kit, with no allowances, no scrambling for materials, and no surprises on pricing.

What Comes with Every Kit

  • Metal roof and siding panels with a 40-year Sherwin-Williams warranty
  • Complete kitchen with LG appliances, quartz countertops, and soft-close cabinetry
  • Milgard windows with Low-E glass throughout
  • 5-zone ductless heat pump for whole-home climate control
  • Rigid core LVP flooring with all interior trim
  • Permit-ready stamped engineering drawings

Models and Pricing

  • Compact: 799 sq ft, 2 bed / 1 bath, starting at $99.5k
  • Modern: 994 sq ft, 3 bed / 2 bath, starting at $115k
  • Family: 1,360 sq ft, 3 bed / 2 bath, starting at $145k

Built for Contractors Too

Kit Culture was designed to be contractor-friendly. Pre-cut panels and pre-designed systems cut down on job-site decisions and labor time. Most builders go from kit delivery to finished home in under 90 days. Fixed pricing also protects everyone from the budget creep that’s common in custom construction.

For contractors who want a repeatable, scalable product to offer clients, Kit Culture is a ready-made solution backed by the same manufacturing quality as every other SSA brand.

Perma-Column: Post-Frame Foundations Built to Last

Three precast perma-column post anchors lay on a pallet

Every post-frame building is only as good as what’s holding it up. Traditional wood posts buried in soil will eventually rot. It’s not a matter of if, it’s when.

SSA is a licensed dealer and installer of Perma-Column Precast products, which solve that problem for good.

What Perma-Column Is

Perma-Column makes precast concrete post-frame columns that replace the buried wood section of a building’s foundation. They’re made with 10,000 psi concrete and 60,000 psi rebar, which makes them three times stronger than standard concrete and built to outlast the structure above them.

Their product lineup includes:

  • Perma-Column System: precast concrete columns for post-frame buildings
  • Sturdi-Wall Brackets: heavy-duty anchor brackets for post-frame construction
  • Precast Deck Posts: for decks and outdoor structures
  • Post Repair Systems: permanent solutions for replacing rotted posts in existing buildings

What This Means for Your Building

When SSA builds with Perma-Column, we’re removing one of the most common long-term failure points in post-frame construction. That means lower maintenance costs over time, stronger structural integrity, and a building you can genuinely pass down.

It’s a smart upgrade, and it’s one we’re proud to offer.

Garage Door Design: The Right Door for Every Building

A selection of custom garage doors lined up, from Garage Door Design

The garage door is often the most visible feature on a building’s exterior. It deserves real thought. Garage Door Design handles that part of the project, serving the Spokane, Washington and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho area with residential and commercial garage door solutions.

Whether you’re looking for a low-maintenance aluminum door for a post-frame shop or a high-design door for a custom barndominium or home, GarageDoorDesign has the inventory and expertise to get the right fit.

What They Offer

  • Residential garage doors ranging from classic carriage-house styles to modern aluminum designs
  • Commercial garage doors built for heavy-duty business and agricultural use
  • LiftMaster and Hormann openers and accessories
  • Decorative hardware for a finished, polished look

Part of the Build from Day One

When you build with SSA, the garage door is part of the design conversation from the beginning. We work with Garage Door Design to make sure whatever you choose fits the building’s profile, color scheme, and purpose.

For homeowners focused on curb appeal, their designer collections make a real statement. For commercial clients and contractors, the commercial line is built to perform at the same level as the structure behind it.

The Full Picture: One Ecosystem, Every Build

Here’s what it looks like when it all comes together. No matter where you are in your project or how you want to approach it, one of our brands can help.

  • Steel Structures America: full-service design, engineering, and construction of custom post-frame buildings
  • Metal America: in-house metal panel manufacturing for roofing, siding, and exterior cladding
  • Kit Culture: premium kit homes for owner-builders, DIYers, and independent contractors
  • Perma-Column Precast: precast concrete foundations that outlast any wood alternative
  • Garage Door Design: residential and commercial garage doors in the Inland Northwest

Most of our customers start with a single question and find they don’t need to look anywhere else. From the materials we manufacture, to the building we construct, to the door on the front of it, the expertise is here.

And if you want to handle part of the project on your own or work with your own contractor, Kit Culture and Metal America make sure you still have access to the same quality, no matter how you build.
